Collectively named after the owner in the late 1800's, W.S. Lowe (who renamed the mill Lowe's Mill until it was reverted back), the cottages are individual and eclectic. They all retain many clues to their heritage, although have been refurbished to be very comfortable with tasteful furnishings and modern kitchens and bathrooms.
Step out from any of the cottages and there’s a very short walk past the mighty chimney stack down to the Torrs Gorge where you can join the award-winning Millennium Walkway and marvel at the beauty of Mother Nature claiming back the river. All properties are self-catered and fully equipped.
If you can tear yourself away from this awe inspiring place, you might be surprised to find that you are actually in the centre of New Mills with a wide selection of eateries, pubs and shops. A particular highlight would be The Shrub Club found immediately opposite The Old Workshop.
The cottages are perfectly located to make the most of the plentiful attractions of the Peak District National Park, and with the Manchester to Sheffield railway line running through the village, these buzzing cities are easily accessible without having to worry about parking the car.

New Mills is a small town situated on the borders of North West Derbyshire and Cheshire, forming part of the Derbyshire Peak District. Dating back to the 13th century, the late 20th century saw the Torrs Riverside Park (‘the park under the town’) come into being a place for recreation and relaxation, along with the New Mills Heritage Centre, opened to promote tourism in the area. The Torrs Millennium Walkway, a much-admired bridge, is set deep in the gorge and attracts many visitors, while Chapel en le Frith, the Capital of the Peaks, is only 5 miles away, boasting a cobbled market place and historic old stocks.
Within easy driving distance is the delightful spa town of Buxton, famous not only for its therapeutic spring water, but also for its Pavillion Gardens and splendid Victorian Opera House, which boasts a variety of shows, attracting people from all over the world. Within easy driving distance are the Blue John show caves at Castleton and many stately homes such as Chatsworth House and Lyme Hall. You could even leave your car behind as there are direct rail links to Manchester, the Hope Valley and Sheffield. An ideal base for exploring the whole of the Peak District.
